RAINBOW BRIDGE – NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK (NewsFirst) — Authorities have identified the couple killed Wednesday in a fiery crash which led to an explosion near the US-Canadian border.
Kurt P. Villani and his wife Monica Villani died in the fiery car crash. Both were 53 years old. The couple lived in Grand Island, New York, police officials said.
The car crash occurred on the Rainbow Bridge crossing. The investigation into this crash continues.
There remain questions about whether or not a medical emergency may have caused the accident.
The car accelerated to speeds above 80 mph before hitting a curb and going airborne.
The car exploded upon impact killing both occupants.
