BROOKPORT, ILLINOIS (NewsFirst) Joseph Wooten has been sworn in as the new fire chief of Brookport, Illinois.
Wooten has been with the department since 2008. He said that he would like to remain in the position as long as possible. He has stated that he feels it is a calling.
Wooten has several goals as the new chief. He would like to obtain a smaller vehicle that everyone can drive. At this time, the vehicles the department have requires a specialized license. He would like to change that.
Another goal is to have an auction that would raise funds to help purchase a smaller vehicle. Wooten said that he is going to do inventory at the station and see if there are items that can be auctioned. Perhaps items that are rarely used.
