An unknown virus is rapidly spreading through China.  Tens of thousands of children have been stricken ill with pneumonia.

The World Health Organization has demanded answers from China. 

Taiwan is urging elderly and young people not to travel to China due to the respiratory illness.

It isn’t just China.  The Netherlands and Ohio a reporting a spike in cases.  Europe is also on high alert.

Children’s hospitals in Beijing have been flooded and overwhelmed by young patients with the disease.

The Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research has revealed that 80 out of every 100,000 kids aged between five and fourteen were diagnosed with pneumonia last week.

Earlier this week, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the spike in respiratory illnesses in China was a normal issue experienced by many countries and that authorities had the cases under control. 

But children’s hospitals in Beijing are said to have been overwhelmed by young patients with the disease.

The Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (NIVEL) has revealed that 80 out of every 100,000 kids aged between five and 14 were diagnosed with pneumonia last week.
