MAYFIELD, KY – Two years after the devastating EF-4 tornado, Graves County officials are set to break ground on the new Graves County Administration Building (Courthouse). The groundbreaking event is scheduled for Monday, December 11, at 2:30 p.m., at the location of the previous Graves County Courthouse, 101 East South Street, Mayfield, KY.

The Graves County Judge Executive’s Office announced that Susan Scott Higdon, a Graves County resident, will serve as the emcee for the event. The ceremony will pay tribute to the lives lost during the December 10th, 2021 tornado.

As part of the ceremony, new details about the Graves County Administrative Building will be shared, and the unveiling of the courthouse’s architectural rendering will take place. The event will conclude with a ceremonial groundbreaking, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for Graves County.

The community is cordially invited to attend the ceremony, and refreshments will be served.

“We are excited as we begin a new chapter for Graves County and would appreciate everyone joining us on this historical day,” stated the judge’s office. The groundbreaking marks a significant step forward in the county’s recovery and rebuilding efforts after the tragic tornado event.
