MAYFIELD, KY – At approximately 9:45 PM on December 9, 2023, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Randview Drive, just West of Mayfield, in response to a disturbance call. The caller reported that her ex-husband, Jeffery W. Ashley, 61, of Obion, TN, was at her residence and refusing to leave.
While en route to the call on South Sutton Lane, a deputy encountered a hazardous road condition with roofing nails scattered across two to three sections of the roadway. In an attempt to clear the nails and proceed to the disturbance call, the deputy sustained an injury when a nail pierced his shoe and lodged in his foot.

Subsequently, as other deputies responded to the area, they located Ashley’s vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 69 near the 21-mile marker. A traffic stop was initiated, and Ashley was identified as the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle. Following a brief investigation, he was found to be under the influence. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
