Median work planned immediately south of I-24 Exit 7 near Whitehaven
PADUCAH, Ky. (December 13, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a work zone lane restriction along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road in front of Whitehaven Welcome Center in McCracken County on Friday, December 15, 2023.
This work zone lane restriction along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road runs from the I-24 Paducah Exit 7 Westbound entry ramp extending southward about 60 feet toward the Martin Circle intersection. A contractor and the KYTC McCracken County Highway Maintenance Crew plan to mill out a section of mountable median to create a center turn lane.
The work zone is expected to be in place from 8 a.m., CST, Friday, to about 3 p.m., Friday. Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
Both the northbound and southbound traffic will move to the right-hand or driving lane in this work zone. Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach this area. The location of this traffic restriction along U.S. 45 is also likely to impact traffic on the I-24 Paducah Exit 7 eastbound connector road (Jack Paxton Boulevard).
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
