JEFFERSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS (NewsFirst) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is reminding area residents to use extra care as we enter the Christmas season.
Follow these tips to help prevent package theft:
Track orders & packages – Know when they’ll arrive and have a plan to bring them inside in a timely manner or have a neighbor bring them in for you
Schedule deliveries for when you’ll be home
Ship to a local store or secure locker pickup location
Install security cameras that notify when someone is at your door
Ask for signature confirmation when shipping
Ask to have packages delivered to your workplace
Get a secure parcel lockbox, only accessible by the delivery person and you
