MAYFIELD, KENTUCKY (NewsFirst) — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) have positively identified human remains discovered in Lake Barkley in 1999. The remains were found in Lyon County.

The remains have been identified as Roger Dale Parham.

Parham were found by two fisherman who were fishing in Lake Barkley.

There was obvious foul play involved in the death. The two fisherman found the body wrapped in heavy tire chains.

Parham was wanted on criminal charges. KSP says Parham disappeared and was thought to have left the area in an effort to flee prosecution.

Advanced DNA testing helped identify the body. These type of tests were not as readily available in 1999. Since that time, however, the technology has advanced to the point of helping to solve many crimes.

KSP said a relative of the unidentified person was located, which allowed investigators to identify the remains as Parham.

“Roger Dale Parham’s cause of death remains undetermined, however, due to the suspicious circumstances in which the remains were located; this case is being investigated as a homicide,” KSP said in a release.

Police are asking if anyone knows any information on this investigation, to contact Kentucky State Police at 270-856-3721.
