NEW MADRID, MISSOURI (NewsFirst) — The New Madrid Sheriff’s Department has received reports of a phone scam involving someone calling to tell people they have warrants and requesting payment over the phone.
They have no one within their department named Sergeant Daniel Cooper. Please do not give any information out over the phone or pay money to someone.
The sheriff’s department will never request any payment via phone for active warrants.
