PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — A high-speed chase culminated in the arrest of Ke’Shawn M. Scott, 22, near Paducah, Ky., late Wednesday.
On March 2, 2024, at approximately 11:55 p.m., deputies operating a radar unit on Hwy 641N near Stewart Cemetery Road attempted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle. The driver, later identified as Scott, increased speed as deputies activated their emergency equipment and attempted to flee.
The pursuit continued into Marshall County at a high rate of speed, with officers from multiple agencies, including the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, joining to assist. Scott’s vehicle eventually collided with a guardrail on the southbound ramp of the I-69 interchange. Despite attempting to continue, Scott lost control and struck the guardrail a second time.
After a brief distance on I-69, Scott pulled to the right and stopped. Upon inspection, authorities found a passenger in the vehicle.
Scott was subsequently arrested and lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility. Charges against him include speeding 26 MPH or more over the speed limit, reckless driving, operating on a suspended operator’s license, fleeing or evading police in the first degree (a Class D felony), criminal mischief in the first degree (a Class D felony), wanton endangerment in the first degree (a Class D felony), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities did not report any injuries resulting from the chase and subsequent arrest.
