WEBSTER COUNTY, KENTUCKY (NewsFirst) — On March 25th, 2024, at approximately 9:23 a.m., Deputy Eric Elder was dispatched to a report of a burglary on Letcher Melton Road in the Dixon area of Webster County.
Upon investigation, the victim provided Deputy E. Elder with a description of the vehicle involved in the burglary, along with the identity of the suspect(s).
While following up on the information gathered in the investigation of this complaint, Deputy E. Elder observed the vehicle described by the victim in the burglary traveling on Lakeview Drive in Dixon.
Deputy E. Elder conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
During the traffic stop, while attempting to detain the driver, the driver began to resist being taken into custody. While attempting to handcuff the driver, he began to physically resist and attempted to flee. Deputy E. Elder deployed his taser and was able to take the driver into custody without further incident.
The passenger of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident.
K9 Kora was deployed on the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Upon search of the vehicle, investigating units recovered methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and multiple firearms in the vehicle.
Deputy E. Elder recovered items that were reported stolen in the burglary at the residence of the passenger, Billy Winstead.
Through Deputy E. Elder’s investigation, it was verified that both of the suspects taken into custody were involved in the reported burglary being investigated.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the Providence Police Department, Clay Police Department, and Webster County EMS.
