BENTON, Ky. (News First) — The Woodmen of the World honored four deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department last night for their courageous actions in rescuing a woman and her seven-year-old daughter from an overturned vehicle submerged in a creek. The incident occurred on January 16, 2024.
Sgt. Greenfield, Deputy Madding, Deputy Fraley, and Deputy Hicks were recognized for their bravery in responding to the emergency, pulling the victims to safety in a challenging and life-threatening situation. Their quick response and determination were praised as exemplary acts of heroism.
Also honored, but not present for the photo, was School Resource Officer Jason Ivey. On January 23, 2024, Ivey rescued a woman and five children from a burning vehicle. After ensuring their safety, he pushed the vehicle away from South Elementary School, preventing potential further harm.
The ceremony highlighted the deputies’ dedication to their community and their exceptional service in the face of danger.
