PADUCAH, Ky. — The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office has reported at least two new scams targeting local businesses. Officials believe more cases are likely.

One McCracken County business fell victim to the scam, which involved a legitimate lien from the State of Kentucky dating back to 2018 for a small amount of money. Scammers, reportedly based in Kennewick, WA, used outdated and inactive paperwork to create the fraudulent demands.

Businesses receiving suspicious payment demands are advised to contact Kathy Knuckolls at the McCracken County Clerk’s Office at (270) 444-4700 for assistance.
