PADUCAH, Ky. (News First) — A Paducah man with a prior murder conviction was arrested early Saturday morning for multiple offenses, including possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Demetrius M. Wilson, 39, of Atkins Street, was apprehended in the 600 block of South 21st Street at 1:08 a.m. after Officer Julia Cross observed his vehicle swerve into the opposite lane and strike a curb. During the traffic stop, officers determined Wilson was under the influence of alcohol. He resisted arrest and attempted to prevent officers from placing him in the police car.
Officers found a handgun inside the driver’s side door. Wilson, convicted of a 2003 murder in McCracken County, was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense), reckless driving, disorderly conduct (second degree), disregarding a traffic control device, failure to or improper signal, and failure to notify address change to the Department of Transportation.
Wilson was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
