The Bollinger County Sherrif’s Office has confirmed it’s been searching for Gina Dawn Brooks, who went missing in August of 1989. Authorities shared the news in a Meta post earlier today (Thurs, July 25th).
“On Monday, July 22, 2024, officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime, Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Missouri Attorney General’s Office, and the Fredericktown Police Department, began a search of a rural Bollinger County property, located on Bollinger County Road 872. This multi-day search was being conducted pursuant to a Bollinger County search warrant obtained by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and is part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Gina Dawn Brooks. Brooks went missing in Fredericktown, Missouri, in August of 1989. Throughout the course of the search, items of possible evidentiary value were collected and will be forwarded to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory for analysis. However, no human remains were located,” the statement reads.
It continues, “The investigation into the disappearance of Gina Dawn Brooks is active and ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI, the Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control/Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E Headquarters at (573) 840-9500, the Fredericktown Police Department at 573-783-3660, or submit information through tips.fbi.gov.“
The search is being conducted on a property that someone has owned for 15 years, claiming he was never served a search warrant.
Brooks went missing while riding her bike near the current search site outside of Fredericktown. She was last seen standing near a church when a car with a Missouri license plate pulled up to speak to her. Her bike was later found abandoned. Three men were implicated in the disappearance. Due to the lack of evidence, no one was charged.
