DOE RUN, Mo (News First) – A man from Doe Run was seriously injured in a one-car crash on Saturday evening in St. Francois County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on ‘D-D’ Highway near Kimball Lane just west of Knob Lick. The patrol says 32-year-old Michael Cooperwood was inattentive while driving a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. He failed to make a curve in the road. Cooperwood’s car crossed the centerline, began to skid and ran off the left side of the road. The car then came back onto the road, crossed the centerline again, running off the right side of the road. The car started spinning, overturned, and struck a barbed wire fence and two trees. Cooperwood was seriously injured and was flown to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
