FARMINGTON, Mo. (News First) – It’s been a while since we’ve received any significant rainfall in most of southeast Missouri. Drought conditions continue to intensify once again in southeast Missouri. In the latest drought monitor map of Missouri, released Thursday morning by the U.S.D.A., severe drought conditions have crept back into most of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau County and New Madrid County, plus all of Scott and Mississippi counties and the northern and eastern sides of Stoddard County. Moderate drought conditions continue to spread as well. All of Madison, Perry, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve and Wayne counties are seeing moderate drought conditions, along with most of Iron, Reynolds and Jefferson counties. Abnormally dry conditions are seen in the rest of the News First coverage area. Precipitation is in the immediate forecast. The National Weather Service calls for a good chance of rain this Friday.
