PADUCAH, Ky. — A Florida man faces multiple charges after Paducah Police uncovered a sophisticated credit card fraud scheme.
Police arrested Vern T. Fulton, 39, of Miami Gardens, Florida, on Friday after a local bank reported unauthorized access to customer accounts through local ATMs. Authorities responded to a business in the 3300 block of Irvin Cobb Drive, where they found Fulton using a fraudulent ATM card.
Upon searching Fulton, officers discovered several counterfeit banking cards bearing his name, a credit card scanner, and more than $1,000 in cash. Detectives determined Fulton had stolen encrypted bank account information and encoded it onto cards in his possession to withdraw funds.
Fulton was charged with Unlawful Access to a Computer 1st Degree, Forgery 2nd Degree, and Use of a Scanning Device to Obtain Payment Card Information. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
