ARCADIA VALLEY, Mo. (News First) – A few teams may have already played a game but for southeast Missouri, the official start to the high school basketball season is when the Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving Boys Tournament kicks off. It’s an eight-team tournament, featuring the same teams who have played in this tournament for several years now. There are three first-round matchups Monday evening as 1-seed South Iron takes on 8-seed Bismarck at 4:30. Then, it’s 2-seed West County against 7-seed Clearwater and Monday’s nightcap will feature 3-seed Fredericktown and 6-seed Ellington.
The final first-round game will be played Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 when 4-seed A.V. will play 5-seed Lesterville. Following that game, the A.V. girls will play their season opener against Bismarck. Now, the two tournament semifinal games will be played next Wednesday night in Ironton. The 3rd place game and championship game of this year’s A.V. Turkey Tournament is Thanksgiving night, starting at 6:30.
