CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (News First) – A contracted Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) employee has been arrested and charged with allegedly bringing a loaded gun into Houck Stadium during Saturday’s (Nov 30th) football game.

SEMO DPS Director Dr. Rich Flotron says a black bag was found unattended in a storeroom in the stadium which included a loaded handgun. The bag’s owner was identified as 35-year-old William Wells of Cape Girardeau who confirmed to Cape Girardeau Police that he entered the stadium with the bag and gun before attendees and security measures were in place.

Flotron confirmed that Wells did not make any threats to the public and was arrested without incident. He is currently being held at the Cape Girardeau County Jail awaiting charges, and he has a $20,000 surety bond.
