WASHINGTON (News First) – News First’s Matt Bailey, in our nation’s capitol, caught up with Utah’s First Congressional District Representative Blake Moore this week. The two had a walk-and-talk about the National Defense Authorization Act, ending “wokeness” in the military.

“Congressman, how does the NDAA address what you guys are calling a ‘woke’ ‘wokeness’ in the military and what are the main concerns under that woke umbrella with regard to the military currently?” Bailey asks.

“I’m merely the agenda for me care. This isn’t the only place in the work that’s done in NDAA and I’ll just refer back to my comments when I started,” Moore says. “We’ve got to take care of the quality of life of service members and promote our national defense. It has to be focused heavily on that and you can’t be a bill that deals with climate change, it can’t be a bill that deals with all the transgender stuff. We’ve got to just focus this to make sure that we’re keeping the fight on protecting our national security.”

Congressman Moore, a Republican and native of Ogden, Utah, was first elected to Congress in 2021. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Budget Committee.

He will also serve as Co-Chair of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus for the 119th Congress alongside Co-Chairs Congressman Aaron Bean (R-FL) and Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX). The caucus will work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut wasteful government spending, eliminate unnecessary bureaucratic regulations, and reorganize inefficient federal agencies, under the new Trump administration starting in January.
