BELLEVIEW, MO (News First) – A fire a week ago at a church in Iron County has left church members playing the waiting game. They are awaiting word on insurance to see if they can rebuild after last Monday night’s fire pretty much destroyed the church which is located at Highway ‘O’ and Iron County Road 20. Early indications say the fire may have been electrical. The church doesn’t even have a pastor and has been without one for a couple of years. But that hasn’t stopped church members from worshiping.
They have averaged around 10 church members attend a service they host each Sunday and church members say despite the fire, members will still be meeting up for their weekly Sunday service. They don’t expect to hear any news from their insurance for at least a few more weeks. A news story from the Baptist Press says a church member told the media that they are just doing what they believe Jesus would want them to do. 8 fire departments responded to the church fire last Monday night.
