PADUCAH, KY – Suspect(s): Hunter P. Wahl, 36, of South 21st Street, charged with two counts of

first-degree wanton endangerment, driving under the influence, leaving the scene

of an accident/failure to render aid, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief,

careless driving and third-degree criminal mischief

A woman was charged after causing a collision and leaving the scene, then

crashing her Yukon into a house several blocks away.

Police were called at 12:15 p.m. Saturday to a crash with injuries at 28th and

Jefferson streets. While enroute, officers were told that one of the vehicles, a white

SUV, was leaving the scene. When officers arrived, they found a 2006 Saturn with

damage to the front.

The driver said he was southbound on 28th Street and his light turned green,

so he proceeded into the intersection. He said a white SUV ran the red light on

Jefferson Street and the vehicles collided. The SUV then hit a street sign before

stopping briefly on Jefferson Street. A resident saw what had happened, and took

several pictures of the SUV before it fled the scene. Both the driver and his

passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Less than five minutes later, officers were dispatched to 2016 Guthrie

Avenue where a white SUV had run off the road at a high rate of speed, hit a utility

pole, hit a curb and went airborne and crashed into the corner of a duplex. Two

residents were inside, one of them in the room the SUV crashed into. Neither was

reported injured.

When officers arrived, they found Hunter Wahl lying across the front seats

of the SUV, obviously intoxicated. She was taken to Baptist Health Paducah, where

she told officers she had been drinking at a friend’s home and made a mistake by

driving home. Due to her medical condition, she was issued citations on the

above-listed charges and released to the care of the hospital.
